A groundbreaking ceremony took place on January 26 for the Children’s Advocacy Center for Denton County (CACDC) facility.
EIKON carefully developed this addition’s design with children in mind. The addition will almost double the size of the existing structure. The updated facility will allow CACDC to more securely provide services for a larger group of people.
Privacy, circulation, and security were critical considerations and many revisions were made to improve the functional efficiency of the facility. The facility’s new entry porch and lobby are positioned toward the private side of the site. This approach to the building is intended to lessen anxieties and create a sense of warmth and welcome.
The addition also extends the building around three sides of the site. In conjunction with a curved brick and stone wall, the addition encloses a large courtyard where the children can play in a safe and secure environment.
EIKON made numerous modifications to the layout of the existing plan. These modifications increase the number of therapy and interview rooms, offices, and consultation areas. In addition, the new construction includes development and administrative offices, employee amenities, and CPS offices, as well as a conference and training room that can be configured into separate spaces.
