EIKON and WTI created the “New” Adventure Cove Aquatic Center for the City of Abilene, Texas. The project is a destination project and is located at Oscar Rose Park and includes ballfields, tennis courts, playgrounds, and recreation center.
The Abilene Aquatic Center is a destination project at Oscar Rose Park. The center includes ballfields, tennis courts, playgrounds, and recreation center. The new aquatic center replaces the original pool built in 1978 and doubles the capacity. EIKON, Water Technology, Inc (WTI), and Jacob Martin LLC focused on making the Adventure Cove Aquatic Center seamlessly fit into the surrounding neighborhood from a planning and use standpoint, along with the architecture scale of the neighborhood.
Amenities include a leisure pool, lazy river, covered slide tower with two water slides, large deck with lounge chairs and shade areas and rentable pavilion, restrooms with showers and concession stand and new restrooms dedicated to the ballfields. The 3,400 square-foot leisure pool holds over 65,000 gallons of water. The pool has a zero-depth entry and multiple interactive water features. The 4,100 square-foot lazy river holds over 116,000 gallons of water. It includes multiple entry points, water jets and a vortex feature. There are 2 slides, one ending in the lazy river while the other runs out to the pool deck.
