EIKON was engaged by the Center for Animal Research and Education (CARE) to create renderings for a cougar habitat, a veterinary center, and an overall site plan.
Located in Bridgeport, Texas, the non-profit research institute CARE provides safe, permanent and loving homes to exotic animals in need.
EIKON’s architectural team created several drawings from which CARE built their new cougar enclosure. The 8,000 SF enclosure has space and bridges 20 feet off the ground for the cougars to climb and run. This habitat includes a rope bridge, ramps, and platforms for cougars to climb
The unique structure will allow staff to view the cougars from an elevated walkway running through the center of the structure. This allows CARE to monitor the well-being of the animals at all times.
A pool and waterfall cool the air in the enclosure, providing comfort to the female cougar Cassie in the hot Texas summer. The habitat will look out over miles of countryside where cougars can live out their lives in peace and tranquility.
