Denton County’s Capital Improvement Plan included funding for the replacement of several existing facilities built in the 1970s. One of these replacement facilities is the Precinct Three Lee Walker Government Center in Lewisville, Texas. On January 7, 2019, the public began utilizing the services of this new facility which houses the Denton County Health Department, Juvenile Probation Department, and the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program. EIKON completed the design and provided construction administration services, bringing the project to completion approximately one month ahead of schedule.
To meet deadlines, EIKON first finalized the overall building size for the appropriate level of anticipated growth while complying with the site requirements. EIKON then held several meetings with user groups and worked through ideas and alterations to ensure the facility met Denton County’s current and future needs. Our design team reconfigured the layout of the building to increase the functionality of the spaces and maximize the number of offices for future growth without compromising the design and construction schedule.
Lee Walker’s exterior is clad in a traditional palette of brick and cast stone accents. The building is punctuated by arched windows and a colonnade along its front face. The interiors of the new government center maintain the same traditional palette as the exterior, combining classic finishes, like natural stone and rich wood tones to create a timeless design. The materials used in the interior of the building are traditional in their color palette and style; giving the area community a lasting legacy
