Mechanical Engineer In Training

MECHANICAL (HVAC) ENGINEER IN TRAINING

Summary

This position will be part of EIKON’s MEP Engineering Division in our Plano, Texas office. This Mechanical Engineer will work under the guidance of the Senior Mechanical Engineer and will be responsible for preparing HVAC construction drawings and specifications, coordinating with Electrical and Plumbing Engineers/Designers, running load calculations, and reviewing shop drawings and submittals.

 

Essential Functions

  • Design of HVAC systems for both new construction and renovations.
  • Create plans and schematics, perform calculations necessary for equipment selections, and provide systems narratives and specifications.
  • Work with a team of designers and support personnel.
  • Support the Senior Mechanical Engineer in interviews and presentations.
  • Provide company representation at owner/architect/contractor meetings.

 

Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited University.
  • Ideal Candidate will have 1-3 years of experience in design of commercial / office / retail / industrial facility projects.
  • Engineer In Training (EIT) certification is a plus but not required.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD software (knowledge of Revit a bonus).
  • Proficient with HVAC Load Calculation Software (Carrier HAP preferred).
  • Good working knowledge of industry standards, practices and codes.
  • Knowledgeable in the use of Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel.
  • Good communication skills and ability to represent EIKON in a professional manner at meetings.
  • Excellent time and project management skills.

 

 

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phone, photocopiers, filing cabinets and plotters.

 

Physical Demands

This is largely a sedentary role; however, job site surveys may be required. This would require the ability to climb, lift, crouch, and perform other physical tasks as necessary.

 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday, 7:30a.m. to 5:30p.m. and Friday 8:00a.m. to 12:00p.m. Hours will vary during weeks when there is a holiday.

 

Travel

This position may include up to 10% travel time.
