Project Architect

Purpose:  Under the direct supervision of the Architectural Group Leader / Manager, this position may oversee assigned projects from the conceptual stage through construction and eventual completion of the project, making sure that the architectural team assigned to the project meet quality, schedule, contractual, and budget goals.  Will lead a team that may be comprised of other architects, architectural designers, detailers and drafters, specification writers and LEED AP coordinators.  The Project Architect is expected to be confident and experienced with evaluating existing facilities, generating and or working with written and diagrammatic building programs and understanding & coordinating various building systems. The Project Architect is required to have the ability and experience to communicate clearly with and establish and sustain client relations, collaborate with governmental agencies and other project related firms that may provide out-of-house design services on any given project. Project Architects shall also be well versed in building codes potentially spanning multiple editions, design and implement creative concepts of architectural layout, formulate and oversee the architectural scope of the assigned projects, budgets, schedules and client expectations; provide input for business development needs that may arise, be familiar with the project specific contractual obligations, involved in design decisions and aware of the design progression through the phases of the assigned projects.  Not only participate in but be confident in leading project discussions and meetings; be aware of architectural team project performance through the entire project and complete architectural documents on schedule. The Project Architect is required to be aware of the financial aspects of assigned projects and prepared to work with the Project Manager to meet the overall project goals, budgets and deadlines and take responsibility for completing the architectural plans, working with the specification, interior design staff, construction administration staff and coordinating with any special Consultants that may be required to complete a given project.

Work Schedule: 7:30 am – 5:30 pm Monday through Thursday and 8:00 am – 12:00 pm Friday (minimum). Hours will vary on holiday weeks.

Essential Skills (may include but are not limited to the ability to)

  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local building codes
  • Knowledge of architectural methods
  • Experience with PA role on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge of conflict resolution
  • Decision and problem-solving skills

Essential Qualifications

  • 5 years of architectural experience
  • 2 years of construction administration experience
  • Experience working with municipalities, schools, retail, restaurants, and warehouses
  • Proficient in AutoCad 2015 or later, MS Office
  • Experience in Revit is required
  • LEED experience preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture

Physical Requirements

  • May lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds, Ability to work in inclement weather, climb stairs, occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch; sit for long periods of time
