This new 32,529 SF, state-of-the-art facility tripled the size of the previous outdated and poorly functioning facility that served the community. The new structure consists of senior and youth gymnasiums, a senior activity room, junior and youth game lobbies, youth learning lab, technology lab, and art studio to serve nearly 600 kids when in full capacity. A welcoming entrance and administration spaces were also included in EIKON’s scope of work.
The program, including the activity spaces and the office/support elements, are efficiently laid out to maximize staff control, sightlines, and safety of the occupants while providing clean and clear divisions between the various age groups within the building. The facility’s layout is strategically planned to provide increased accessibility, heightened flexibility and accommodate growth for years to come without expanding beyond the designed footprint. In addition to the facility’s primary function, the building is designed to allow for public use concurrently with club use. This is accomplished through control of flow and access in and out of specific spaces, so there is no mixing between public and club functions scheduled at the same time.
The new facility is more centrally located, providing increased accessibility and flexibility for the youth of Cooke County. With this project, the Boys and Girls Club can expand its activities and programs, operate more efficiently, and enhance the safety of its members.
