The Plano Event Center, formerly Plano Centre, is a 86,400 SF facility with flexible function space that EIKON, as prime professional, provided architectural and engineering design services to revitalize. Originally built in 1988, the venue was updated and modernized to continue to serve the community. The facility is used for corporate meetings, exhibitions, and conventions by large corporations, as well as, weddings, receptions, and private parties by local residents. Updates included new paint throughout the entire interior and exterior of the building, new carpet and furniture, as well as renovated restrooms with new marble tiles, flooring, sinks, mirrors, and partitions. Dramatic new chandeliers were added to the main, east, and west hallways and in the Windhaven ballroom. The ballroom also received an upgraded sound system, new motorized shades to completely darken the room for presentations, and new laminate wood flooring. All of the remaining rooms received new window shades and white boards that double as screens for audio-visual presentations.
The Plano Event Center remained occupied during renovations by using a complex construction phasing plan. With numerous events and conventions already booked at the venue, the EIKON team worked on an accelerated schedule to produce construction documents to complete construction within one year. The facility was able to resume full operation on schedule.
Convention South Magazine awarded Plano Event Center the 2018 Top New or Renovated Meeting Site Award.
